In line with its mission of “Serving the Nation”, NIC is committed to engage with and contribute to the community with educational and health initiatives developed and delivered through its Community Engagement Programme. The purpose of NIC's Community Engagement Programme is to promote healthy living and well-being to all Mauritians of all walks and at every stage of life. NIC strongly believes that a healthy body from an early age breeds a healthy mind and contributes to the healthy growth and development of our children.
We launched in April 2017, the #GetHealthy Kids Day, an initiative of the #GetHealthy on Route8 community engagement programme, with the aim to promote good health and well-being of children in private pre-primary and primary schools. With the collaboration of our trusted health partners, we offer free health tests & check-ups, and kid-friendly & fun activities, positively impacting the lives of children and contributing to their healthy growth and development.
As at date, we have carried out 11 #GetHealthy Kids Day, where more than 1,000 children were provided free health tests & check-ups, and 19% were referred for further tests.
